Worlds 2008 - Flag down - and hope to see you soon again

Generel: The Final Results for 2008 er now avaiable. Thank you to your all for a great 1½ week of races and being together with a fantastic team of sailors, families, race-magagement and a lot of helpers. We hope you all will have a safe travel home and looking forward to see you again next year in Kalmar, Sweden. This site and the pictures site will be alive for at leat the next year.

Generel: The Winner for Worlds 2008 is NED 328. The team Tom Otte, Mark Haven and Floortje de Vries won in a very tight race winning by 3 points to NED 333. Congratulation to all of you.

Youth Trophy (The Pump)

Generel: The Youth Trophy for best boat/team yuonger than 19 was given to NED 334 Marjolein Hufen, Rosanne Malschaert and Marjolein Drenth. The trophy and nice words was handed over by Palm and Joyce Warn from Australia.

Worlds Day 6 - Saturday July 12h

Generel: The wind for today - from the morning calm wind but is expected to increase before noon to 6-10 m/s. 1 or 2 races are the plan and if no truoble with the wind the prize giving ceremony is planned fr approx. 16:00. Here at 12:20 first race is just finished Wind was approx 20 knots from south.

Worlds Day 5 Friday 11th July

Generel: Weather forecast for today was wind with 5-7 m/s from SSW but increasing after noon. We got out started the race and wind disaperad - at 12:30 all boats were called back to harbour and we went out again at 14:00 where wind luckily came back. Two races can be added with wind at approx. 4-7 m/s. Results are avaiable at the "Result"-Link

Thursday July 10 - Worlds Day 4

Generel: Due to lack of wind yeserday Spareday will be used for one or two races starting at 13:00. Wind expected to be 4 m/s from the morning increasing to 8 m/s in the afternoon. Allready at 11:00 wind increased to 8-9 m/s and wind comming from south why the wawes also are quite big (at least compaed to the past days)

Wednesday July 9th - Worlds Day 3 at 13:00

Generel: Here at noon we have tried to start one race but wind was unfortunately too calm and shifting. At 13:00 all boats has gone to harbour avating further instructions but for now it doesnt look promissing for the rest of today. At 15:00 all races for the day has been cancelled due to no wind. Winner of Yngling European Youth Championship 2008 

Generel: The winner of this year’s TORM Yngling Eurpean Youth Championship at Skovshoved, Denmark was won by the Dutch NED 335 sailed by Jildau ter Horst, Amy Righolt and Chantal Hakkel. On second place Dutch NED 350 Caroline Heerema, Susanne Boidin and Tjade Ivor Spier. On third place Danish DEN 207 by Christian G Lund, Lerke Stamer Christoffersen and George Bry. Jan Herman Linge Memorial Trophy 

Generel: At the TORM Yngling World Championship 2008 the Jan Herman Linge Memorial Trophy was given to Bruce Chafee, Morten Harmsen and Jacob Guhle. Jørgen Ring from Royal Danish Yacht Club and Henrik Gravesen President of IYA handed over the Trophy. This trophy was given for the first time and will be given to the winners of the first race during the Worlds. The trophy is donated by the Linge Family

Tune up - Aussie Danish team wins 

Generel: A combined team (of 2 :-) ) David Champman from Australia and Benjamin from Denmark came in as the first ones at Sundays tune up - maybe because the best strategy or less weight :-) . We are looking forward to see them out there today too. This Monday morning we still have calm wind from south west but it is expected to increase during the day and turn west.

Tune Up - July 6th

Generel: The fronts from west have problem pushing away the last days high-pressure why todays tune up was shortened due to calm wind. 52 boats participated and we still expect more wind tomorrow when the races starts. 1978 Jørgen Ring - first Yngling in Denmark 

Generel: At this old picture you see Jørgen Ring in the first Danish Yngling "Y N 1" in 1968. Jørgen is the they guy hiding under the cabin. The rest of the cew was Sussanne as captain and Niels Bolt Jørgensen. The picture is from a book from 1971 written by the famous Danish sailor Poul Elvstrøm kindly brought to our attention by one of our dedicated members Klavs Hansen
